Description Family Rosaceae Originating from S.E. Europe and Asia Brilliantly shining, intense and resplendent, this is our favourite firethorn. It’s clear, shining yellow berries are a spectacular alternative to the duller orange and red varieties, with a brightness of light yellow that is rare. The vigorously growing branches quickly form a wide spreading shrub that can pruned to any form, even topiaried, making an ideal nesting location for birds. Its masses of long spines also make it a great security species for planting along boundaries. Masses of pure white flowers crowd the plants in spring, attracting multitudes of pollinators. Easy to grow in any soil in full sun or part shade. Height and spread after 5 – 10 years 2.5m x 4m.
